Sheesh, it’s been a rough two and a half days at work! No, I don’t have a killer project with a ridiculous deadline. Nope, it’s not my co-workers or my boss (Hallelujah!). The fun began overnight on Wednesday into Thursday and hasn’t stopped since. The a/c unit in our server room kicked the bucket, causing the servers to overheat and shut down. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to work in a room where it’s 95 degrees, either. Spot coolers were brought in on Thursday morning to cool the room back down, but when an attempt was made to restart the servers, there was nothing. The problem was worse than imagined.
Admittedly, I’m in marketing, so the IT speak is over my head. All I know is that it’s now Monday at 7:37 am and I’m on my personal laptop, still unable to login on my work computer. My co-workers are joyous. The server problem has a temporary fix and everyone’s on cloud 9. Why not me? You see, I am the only person in the building who has a Mac. I’m the only person in the building who even remotely understands a Mac. Translation … it’s going to be a long, long time before I’m back online.
I’m done venting. I’m going to continue to recreate the wheel today – I have a postcard that’s absolutely got to go out today … but the file is on my other computer. Yeah, I’ll be re-doing that. I have sales presentations that need to be designed in the next day or so. Yeah, I’ll be re-doing them. And I have a VAR line card that’s got to be completed before the week is up. Yeah, I’ll be re-doing that.
I guess I shouldn’t be complaining – I spent Thursday without internet. Seriously, come on!!!
Argh … it’s going to be a beautiful week!

Yes! Today is Thursday, August 28th. At 2:32 pm, I got my system back! Woohoo! Not before, of course, I reinvented the wheel with the tower postcard design. Not to worry, though, I now have a layout to use next fall! I just designed it a year in advance! Frustration over!
