okay, peanut.

Yes, I was listening to XM 23 Love this morning. I heard Dionne Warwick’s “I’ll Never Love This Way Again.” And yes, I listened, really listened, to the whole thing. I know, I’m special.

Anyway, one particular line in that song stuck with me this morning.

“A fool will lose tomorrow reaching back for yesterday.”

I need to take these lyrics and make some sense of them. Life has changed over the past 10 weeks. Well, over the past 17 weeks, really. I’m a much different person than I used to be; some of the differences I’m happy with, and some of them I’m not. I’m realizing, however, that it is what it is, and I can’t make the outcome of these differences any better (or worse, for that matter). In other words, I can’t spend my time “reaching back for yesterday.”

My main focus at this point is my family, and more specifically, our Peanut. We are tasked with giving her the best life possible, and that means making some tough choices and working through many changes. We’ve learned to muddle through uncharted territory, and quite honestly, the journey has been a blast!

All in all, I need to stop thinking of what was and focus on what is and what will be. There’s no turning back now and believe me, I wouldn’t want to go back if I could. I’m sad to see some of the changes unfold, but I am also so excited about the future and what’s in store for us. I’m taking this as a great opportunity to iron out some of the wrinkles in my life that didn’t have a place here in the first place!

I will not look back at what once was, because some things will never, ever be the same. When I think about it, that’s really okay. As I see it, where you lose in one area you gain in another … and through some wise choices, those gains can be incredibly rewarding!

We’re not perfect, but we’re doing the best we can with the tools we’re given. So far, things are working out just fine!
